What Brazilian knot extensions are, and how your quote works
With Brazilian knots, I take a small section of your hair, braid it a short way with a thin piece of extension hair, and secure it with a knot of thread. Nothing is glued, melted or taped, and no heat touches your hair during the install. Because each knot holds a small amount of hair, the weight is spread across many points, and the extensions move with your head.
Your quote is made for your head of hair, so it is never a number on a menu. It depends on:
- how much extension hair it takes to reach the fullness you want,
- the length,
- your own hair's thickness and condition, which decide how many rows we place and how much each knot can carry,

Both methods add length and fullness. The main difference is how they attach: keratin bonds use a small bond shaped with heat, Brazilian knots use a braid and thread with no heat. The final choice is made at your consultation, after I have seen and felt your hair.
How long they last and when to move them up
Your hair grows about the same whether you wear extensions or not, and the knots grow out with it. When they sit too far from the scalp, they can start to show and tangle. At a move-up, I open each knot, bring the extension hair back up close to the root, and knot it again.
What makes them last longer between visits
- brushing daily, gently, from the ends up, holding the hair at the knots,
- washing with your head tipped back, never piling the hair on top of your head,
- drying the knots fully after every wash, because damp knots can loosen and tangle,
- sleeping in a loose braid on a satin or silk pillowcase.

Do Brazilian knot extensions damage your hair?
Installed with the right tension and moved up on time, they should not. Problems come from knots that are too tight, too much extension hair on too small a section, or months without a move-up, when the weight pulls on grown-out hair. I size every section to your hair and keep a move-up schedule with you. If your hair is already breaking, I will suggest repairing it first.
Can I wash my hair normally with Brazilian knots?
Yes, with a few changes. Wash with your head tipped back in the shower, smooth shampoo down the lengths instead of scrubbing, and use conditioner from mid-length to ends. The most important step is drying: dry the knots fully, with a blow-dryer on low or medium if needed. Damp knots are the most common cause of tangling.
Will salt water ruin hair extensions?
Salt water will not ruin them in one beach day, but it dries out extension hair, which cannot replace its own oils. Before the beach, braid your hair loosely. After, rinse with fresh water, condition the lengths and dry the knots. Regular ocean swimming means more conditioning and possibly earlier move-ups.
Are Brazilian knots good for curly hair?
Often, yes. The knot grips textured hair well, and the method uses no heat, which suits curly clients who avoid heat. The key is matching the extension hair to your curl pattern so the two blend when your hair dries naturally. I check this at your consultation and show you samples next to your own curls.
