There is no one price for keratin extensions, because no two heads of hair need the same thing. I quote every set for your hair, at your consultation, after I have seen it and touched it. What shapes the quote:
- How many bonds you need. Adding a little fullness around the face takes far fewer strands than taking shoulder-length hair to the middle of your back.
- Length. Longer extension hair, and the extra strands it takes to look full at the ends.
- Your own hair's thickness and condition. Dense hair may need more strands to blend; fragile hair may need fewer, lighter strands, or care before we start.
- The extension hair. Matched to your color and texture, and included in your quote.
Removal is offered at the studio too, and if you want new extensions afterward, the reapplication is quoted when we remove the old set.

How long keratin bond extensions last
3 to 6 months
Keratin bonds grow out with your hair. Somewhere between three and six months, the bonds sit far enough from the scalp that they start to show or tangle, and that is when I remove them and, if you want, reapply. Where you land in that range depends on how fast your hair grows and how you care for it.
What shortens the wear
- Salt water and chlorine. A beach or pool day in Virginia Beach is fine, but braid your hair loosely first, rinse with fresh water right after, and condition the lengths, not the bonds.
- Heat right at the bonds. Heat styling is fine with a heat protectant. Keep flat irons and curling irons a finger's width away from the bonds.
- Sleeping on wet hair. Wet hair tangles at the bonds. Dry your hair fully and tie it in a loose braid or low ponytail with a silk scrunchie before bed.
- Oil and conditioner on the bonds. Both soften keratin. Keep them on the mid-lengths and ends.
Caring for your extensions
- Brush gently, starting at the ends and working up, holding the hair at the root with your other hand.
- Wash with a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner, tipping your head back rather than forward.
- Never sleep on wet hair, and never pull on a tangle near a bond. Bring it to me instead.
- Book removal with me. Pulling bonds out at home is how people lose their own hair.

Do keratin bond extensions damage your hair?
They should not when they are applied, maintained and removed correctly. Damage usually comes from bonds that are too heavy for the hair they sit on, bonds placed too close to the scalp, skipped maintenance, or removal at home. That is why I check your hair's strength at the consultation, match the weight of each strand to your own hair, and do every removal myself. If your hair is not ready, I will tell you.
Can I swim in the ocean with keratin extensions?
Yes, with care. Salt water and chlorine dry out both your hair and the bonds, and wet hair tangles. Before a beach or pool day, braid your hair loosely. Afterward, rinse with fresh water, apply conditioner to the lengths only, and let your hair dry fully before you sleep. Frequent swimming can shorten the 3 to 6 months of wear.
Can I color keratin extensions?
Extensions can be toned or colored by a professional, but it is better to plan color at the start. At your consultation, I can match the extension hair to your color, or pre-color it for highlights or dimension. Please do not color extensions at home: home color can dry out the hair and soften the bonds.
How many keratin bonds do I need?
It depends on your hair's density, the length you want and whether your goal is length, volume or both. A face-framing boost needs far fewer strands than a full head of added length.
Do you offer tape-in or clip-in extensions?
No. Eugenia Hair Studio does not offer tape-in or clip-in extensions. I work with two methods, keratin bonds and Brazilian knots, so I can match each one closely to your hair and maintain it properly. If you are deciding between methods, the consultation is the place to compare them.
How do I remove keratin extensions?
Book removal with me. I soften each bond with a removal solution and slide it off the strand, then wash and check your hair. Pulling or cutting bonds out at home is the fastest way to lose your own hair with them. Removal is offered at the studio, and if you want a new set, we quote the reapplication at the same visit.
